Project Statement

We collaborated with Cole, a software engineer and cinema enthusiast, to improve the user experience on his site, Good1s. Good1s aggregates a curated assortment of art-house, rare, and international film screenings at independent theaters across Los Angeles. Cole’s original design embraced a minimalist, text-heavy aesthetic that he wanted to maintain. We began the project intending to add features, but learned that the primary goal was improved clarity. A core part of his vision was to highlight not only the films and venues, but also the organizers behind each screening, who are central to the cultural fabric he aims to support.

During user testing, we found that many visitors were overlooking the site’s most unique feature: the ability to create and share personalized watch-lists. We focused on improving the site’s information architecture to make this and other core functionalities more intuitive and visible, while maintaining the stripped-back visual language.
