Johanna Drucker’s Artist Books

Project Statement

During the winter and spring of 2024, I served as a Graduate Researcher for Dr. Johanna Drucker, developing a digital archival framework for her extensive portfolio of handmade artist books. Spanning over five decades and more than 50 titles, this collection represents a significant body of work in the field of book arts. The project focused on designing and implementing an accessible, extensible web-based archive to preserve and showcase these unique works.

The site’s design drew inspiration from an earlier digital archive of artists’ books affiliated with the Journal of Artist’s Books (JAB) community, accessible via the Internet Archive’s Wayback Machine. Following the completion of the artist books archive, I transitioned to improving the user interface of Dr. Drucker’s primary scholarly website. This included CSS updates and visual design enhancements for her CV, with linked access to published articles and recorded lectures.
